Moving from Microsoft Viva Glint to CultureMonkey without losing your survey history

Why

Why teams move off Microsoft Viva Glint

Cost is the trigger, not the product

Reviewers describe it as expensive, most sharply at smaller organizations. Glint’s automated reporting is a genuine strength, and nothing on this page claims to beat what it does for a small team.

Support that arrives as a document

One admin put it plainly: raise a ticket and you get a big document to read and figure out yourself, rather than an answer to the question you actually asked.

Not available on the GCC High cloud

Microsoft documents Viva Glint as available for commercial and Government Community Cloud tenants, but not for GCC High. The supported route is inviting those users into a commercial tenant as guests.

What comes with you, and what does not

  • Your question wording, drivers, cadence and segments all come across. They are re-created rather than imported, so someone types them in, but the program you designed in Glint is the program you keep running afterwards.
  • What does not travel is anything you never exported in time. Raw responses from a cycle where the export setting was off cannot be retrieved at all, and Microsoft states that consequence directly rather than leaving you to find it.
  • Two things change shape rather than disappear, and both matter. Report generation pushed to each manager becomes a dashboard that opens itself, and what was a separate, higher floor for verbatim comments becomes one floor for everything.
Scores

Will your engagement score change

  • Different suppression floors give different group scores from identical responses. Glint reports rated items at five by default and verbatim comments at ten or more. Change the floor and some groups appear while others vanish from the report.
  • The scale changes, so the arithmetic changes before opinion does. CultureMonkey holds ratings on 1 to 5 and displays them on 0 to 10 by default, so identical sentiment reads back to your leadership as a different number.
  • Past results stay attached to the org structure as it stood then. The hierarchy is captured as a snapshot tied to that survey, so a reorg does not rewrite history. That is as far as the documentation goes.

What replaces Glint’s automated reports

  • Glint generates a report for each manager, and that deserves naming first. A manager at a thirteen-thousand-associate company credits it with keeping a small team out of the critical path. The replacement is a different model, not an absent one.
  • Every manager gets their own dashboard the moment results are released. There is no admin distribution step at all, which removes the chasing rather than automating it, and admins can batch-generate one PDF per manager on top of that.
  • No scheduled or recurring report delivery exists, and saying otherwise would fail fast. The only documented automation is reminders. If a document has to reach an inbox on a fixed date, an admin runs the batch export.

Export

Getting your data out of Glint

  • The raw export is on by default and downloads straight to your device. That is better than Culture Amp and materially better than Peakon, both of which route raw data through a request or an API rather than a button.
  • The trap is that the setting is decided per cycle, before launch. Once a cycle is live the choice cannot be changed for that cycle, and closed cycles permanently conform to whatever was set the day they launched.
  • So the audit covers every historical cycle, and it happens now. Not in the final month. A program switched on today can still hold older cycles whose raw responses nobody will ever be able to get out.

How to export your Glint data

Parity

What you keep, what changes

  • You can run more than one custom eNPS question, alongside the standard one. Candidate experience NPS is a documented use case. Two limits: the standard eNPS is one per survey, and custom wording is provisioned rather than typed.
  • Manager visibility controls are extensive but set account-wide. Fourteen documented controls cover free text, heatmaps, exports, benchmark cards and more. All are set by the Account Admin, and there is no per-manager override.
  • Glint is stricter on verbatim comments, and that is conceded here. It applies a separate, higher floor to write-in comments. CultureMonkey applies one floor to every score type and to the comment list, with nothing extra for free text.

Who can see what, and from when

Three separate minimums exist

Conflating them causes real confusion. Three reportees before manager access can be switched on. Three responses is the floor for an anonymous survey. Five is the manager-dashboard card default.

The survey floor of three is hard

It cannot be set lower. The dashboard default of five can be raised but never dropped below three, and it changes by contacting your account manager rather than in a settings screen.

Glint is stricter on write-in comments

Its default statement reports comments verbatim once at least ten people answer a question. Every CultureMonkey score type and the comment list obey the same floor.

Support

What changes when you need help

From 200

A dedicated Customer Success Manager

Below that band, onboarding runs as a group program. Which band you are in decides what support looks like.

From 1,000

Onboarding changes shape again

It becomes dedicated, with white-glove support and a People Science deep-dive on your own results rather than a guided walkthrough of the product.

Any size

The counter to a document rather than an answer

It is a named person carrying your account context, not a faster queue. Ask for the name and the band on your first call.

The retention line

Connect the journey to the number the board asks about: what early attrition and regretted exits cost, and what changed once you fixed the causes.

One consistent journey

The same listening standard from day one to exit, across every team and location, rather than a patchwork of forms.

The early signal

Day-30 flags and exit reasons for your own teams, delivered while follow-up can still change the outcome.

Zero chasing

Trigger rules replace the spreadsheet of joining dates. Joiners, milestones and leavers are surveyed without a single manual send.

Proof

Who signs this off, and what they ask

  • A migration is signed off by four desks, each asking something different. The CHRO wants the board line protected, the Head of People wants one consistent standard, the HRBP wants the early signal, People Ops wants the chasing gone.
  • The question that actually stalls a Glint migration is the reporting one. Whoever relies on reports reaching managers without them asking needs to see the replacement working. That is a demo request, not a document request.
  • Ask for a reference who moved from Glint, not from anywhere. A generic switching story does not answer the reporting question.
FAQ

Moving off Microsoft Viva Glint

The migration

Sourced to Microsoft’s own documentation and to published reviews.

What does migrating off Microsoft Viva Glint actually involve?
Glint's raw export is better than most vendors', on by default and downloading as a CSV, but the setting locks once a survey cycle goes live. Microsoft holds your data while the subscription is active, so your deadline is your contract date. The real work is rebuilding the reporting automation.
What is Microsoft Viva Glint?
Microsoft Viva Glint is the employee engagement and survey platform Microsoft sells inside Viva. It is the product previously sold as LinkedIn Glint, and it is not the marketing agency, the data company or the gold-trading product that share the name.
Can you export your data from Microsoft Viva Glint?
Yes. Microsoft enables raw survey response export by default for each new survey program, and the CSV downloads to your device. The catch is that the setting is fixed per cycle before launch, so a cycle that launched with it switched off can never be exported.
Is Glint being discontinued?
No. Microsoft's product page carries no notice that the product is being withdrawn, and no transition to another Viva module. One narrow exception exists: a customer on the GCC High government cloud was told Glint would not support that cloud, which is cloud-specific rather than product-wide.
How long is Glint data kept after you cancel?
Microsoft's retention policy holds Viva Glint data while the tenant maintains an active subscription, so there is no published post-cancellation window to count down from. Treat your contract end date as the deadline. Individual deleted employees have a separate thirty-day soft-delete window.
Will our engagement scores still be comparable?
Not as absolute numbers. Suppression floors, question wording and the reporting scale each move an aggregate, and CultureMonkey stores ratings on 1 to 5 while displaying them on 0 to 10. Direction, relative driver standing and your own movement stay comparable.
What replaces Glint's automatic manager reports?
A live manager dashboard that appears the moment results are released, with no admin distribution step, plus a batch export producing one PDF per manager when a document is wanted. There is no scheduled or recurring report delivery; the only documented automation is reminders.
Is Glint the same as LinkedIn Glint?
Yes. Microsoft's own page states that LinkedIn Glint is now Microsoft Viva Glint. Older material uses the LinkedIn name and newer material uses the Viva name for one product, so check the date on any documentation you are comparing rather than the name on it.

Bring your Glint reports to a working session.

We will go through what carries across, what your managers see on day one, and which steps an admin owns once the dashboards are live.
