Leaving Culture Amp: five weeks, kickoff to go live

  1. Kickoff, Week 1. Your side: Name one owner. Share your current questions and target survey date. Ours: We agree the timeline and review account settings such as timezone and anonymity threshold.
  2. Employee data, Weeks 1 to 2. Your side: Create teams and locations first, then prepare the employee CSV. An existing HRIS export is usually enough. Ours: The import checks every row and flags any to fix. Nothing is saved until the file is clean.
  3. Configuration, Weeks 2 to 3. Your side: Confirm questions, driver mapping, languages, segments and who sees what. Ours: Rating questions are mapped to drivers and roles set. Your contact applies dashboard threshold changes.
  4. Testing, Week 4. Your side: Preview on a real device, send a test email, check a manager's view, approve the invite. Ours: Questions and driver mappings lock at launch, so fix everything here, before employees see it.
  5. Go live, Week 5. Your side: Announce it internally. Nothing does more for participation. Ours: Invitations go out on your chosen channels, and participation is tracked live.
For scaleG2’s average time to implement Culture Amp, based on user reviews, is two months.

What a Culture Amp switch does not wait for

  • You do not need the HRIS integration to go live. A CSV import is fine to start, so your first survey does not wait on IT.
  • Employees and participants can both come from a CSV. CultureMonkey flags rows to fix before importing, and an HRIS export you already run is usually enough.
  • Your first survey can launch while API work continues. The integration replaces the manual upload when ready, rather than holding up the survey.
Your launch dateGet a CSV launch date set in writing. Ask CultureMonkey's account executive for a date based on your headcount and file, and get it in writing.
Roles

Who does what when you leave Culture Amp

  • In setup, order matters more than speed. People and org structure first, then the survey, then launch. CultureMonkey's account executive applies account-level settings like the dashboard anonymity threshold.
  • Start survey design from templates or the question library. Library questions map to default drivers and carry industry benchmarks, so match your Culture Amp wording where it fits.
  • Name one owner and one data contact. Most of the five weeks is decisions, not effort. The hands-on part falls to whoever exports the employee CSV.

The retention line

Connect lifecycle feedback to the early-attrition questions the board asks about, and show what changed once you fixed the causes.

One consistent journey

The same listening standard from day one to exit, across every team and location, rather than a patchwork of forms.

The early signal

Onboarding feedback from the first month and exit feedback for your own teams, while follow-up can still change the outcome.

Zero chasing

Trigger rules replace the spreadsheet of joining dates. Joiners, milestones and leavers are surveyed without a single manual send.

Timing

When in your Culture Amp cycle to switch

  • Switch in the gap between cycles, not inside one. It is the only time no live data is split across two tools and no manager is mid-conversation.
  • Mid-cycle switching costs you the comparison and the calm. Half the responses sit in each system, leaving data to merge mid-move in the busiest week of the quarter.
  • Count back from your next survey date, not today. The real lead time is five weeks plus your export window, and people forget the export window.

When you switch decides what your first new score is compared against. Read more about score continuity across the change.

FAQ

Culture Amp migration timing: frequently asked questions

How long does it take to switch employee engagement platforms?
We commit to five weeks from kickoff to go live from Culture Amp to CultureMonkey: kickoff, employee data, setup, testing, then launch. G2's average time to implement Culture Amp itself, based on user reviews, is two months, so plan for a similar span either way.
Do we have to wait for the HRIS integration before our first survey?
No. Employees and participants can both load from a CSV that CultureMonkey checks and flags before importing, so your first survey can go out while API work continues.
How long does it take to load our historical survey data?
Older survey data can be imported during onboarding. No duration is published, so ask CultureMonkey's account executive to confirm dates for your own data.
When in our survey cycle should we switch platforms?
Between cycles, after one survey closes and before the next opens. Switching mid-cycle splits the data across two systems, so nobody can read the comparison cleanly. The gap also gives your team time to set up properly.
