Limits

Three things that catch people out

  • The Raw Data Extract must be on before launch. It holds every individual response, and Culture Amp says it cannot be enabled later.
  • There is no bulk export of everything. Exports are managed feature by feature, and Culture Amp’s team cannot help with ad hoc export requests.
  • Access ends when your subscription ends. Culture Amp says to export everything you need before then. Its General Terms allow 30 days after termination to export.
The one way backThere is one way back. For a closed survey that ran without the Raw Data Extract, Culture Amp will produce one de-identified extract on request: each answer on the 1 to 5 scale, with no identifying details or comments.

The limits and the way back come from Culture Amp’s own export and transfer guide.

When to start, and who has to do it

  • We advise starting 60 to 90 days before access ends. Culture Amp recommends starting with plenty of time to spare, in case a step is delayed.
  • Transfers may need a Data Transfer Agreement. Start one via your main Culture Amp contact. Culture Amp says most finish within a week once approvals are in place.
  • Three roles hold the export permissions. Account Administrators reach most exports, Performance Administrators hold performance exports, and a Raw Data Extract needs the Survey Data Analyst role.
Watch for thisThe real trap is an offboarding, not a deadline. If an administrator running the export is leaving, finish before their last day or hand the roles to someone staying.

What a new platform can actually use

  • Only CSV and Excel files keep the numbers. They store each score as a number, so you can re-analyze or import them later.
  • A PDF is a picture of a number. No platform can load it, so rebuilding history from PDFs means retyping every figure by hand.
  • Check the format before you cancel. The Summary is PDF or Print only, and PowerPoint is for presenting. Insight, Participation, Heatmap and Comments offer Excel or CSV.

Once the files are safe, see what your exported data lets you rebuild.

FAQ

Exporting from Culture Amp: frequently asked questions

Can you export all your data from Culture Amp at once?
No. Exports are managed feature by feature, with no bulk export. The closest to one file is a survey's Raw Data Extract (scores, demographics and comments), if it was enabled before launch and you hold the Survey Data Analyst role.
What is a Culture Amp Raw Data Extract?
The file with every individual response to one survey, plus each respondent's details. It must be ticked on the survey's Confidentiality page before launch and cannot be turned on later. Downloading it needs the Survey Data Analyst role, even for Account Administrators.
How long do you keep access to Culture Amp after cancelling?
Culture Amp's support guide says access ends with your subscription. Its General Terms (July 2026) allow 30 days after termination to export, then Culture Amp may delete the data. Contracts can differ. We advise starting 60 to 90 days ahead.
Can Culture Amp export the data for you?
Not in bulk. Culture Amp says you are mainly responsible for your own exports, and it cannot help with ad hoc export requests. The exception: a de-identified Raw Data Extract, on request, for a closed survey that ran without one.
