Can CultureMonkey send employee survey data to our data warehouse or BI tool?

Yes. CultureMonkey pushes your engagement data to your warehouse or BI tool on a schedule you set per destination: hourly, daily or weekly, with Run Now in between. Your Success Manager switches it on, and you manage it from the Data Exports tab.

What that covers:

  • DestinationsPower BI, Tableau, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse and Amazon S3, plus scheduled summaries in Slack or Microsoft Teams.
  • Your own systemsThe Data Export API pushes JSON batches to an endpoint you host, and the Data Pull API lets your system fetch the same data on its own schedule.
  • What syncsTen datasets: survey responses, text responses, feedback and its sentiment, participation, eNPS and custom eNPS scores, pulse responses, action plans and manager insights.
  • ScheduleHourly, daily or weekly, set per destination. Incremental runs send only what changed since the last one.
  • AnonymityEach survey's threshold is the larger of your account's anonymity threshold and its minimum responses, never below 3. Rows from an anonymous survey below it are not sent, however the data leaves.
  • AccessBI tools connect with read-only credentials. Each organization's data is isolated, with no cross-tenant access.
  • Audit trailEvery run is logged with its status, record count, duration and any errors, for your data, IT or compliance team.

Key capabilities

Your numbers next to everything else you measure

Engagement data is most useful beside attrition, performance and headcount. The export puts it where those already live, on a schedule, without loosening the rules that protect who said what.

Send it to the tool your analysts already use

No more rebuilding survey results by hand in someone else's dashboard. The sync puts engagement scores beside the attrition, headcount and performance data they are compared with.

  • Power BI datasets are pushed and kept current, so dashboards refresh without anyone exporting a file.
  • Tableau reads through a live OData connection; BigQuery and Azure Synapse take the data for SQL, pipelines and notebooks.
  • Amazon S3 receives structured CSV or JSON files for any other downstream tool.
  • Slack and Microsoft Teams can get a scheduled summary, daily, weekly or on a custom cadence, for people who will never open a BI tool. These are summaries in a channel, separate from survey delivery over Slack.

The anonymity rules travel with the data

Warehouses slice finer than reports, so the minimum group size that protects respondents holds on every export, scheduled, on demand or via API. See how anonymity works.

  • A team, location or segment below the minimum respondent count has its individual-level data suppressed before it leaves CultureMonkey.
  • BI tools connect with read-only credentials, and internal systems use separate, scoped tokens.
  • Each organization's data is fully isolated, with no cross-tenant access in storage, query or export.

A schedule per destination, and a record of every run

Each destination runs on its own cadence, and an on-demand run covers the board meeting in between. It suits enterprise programs with a data team and a quarterly pulse alike.

  • Hourly for near-current pipelines, daily for overnight refreshes, weekly for summary reporting.
  • Run Now triggers an export whenever you need fresh numbers.
  • Incremental exports send only records that changed since the last run, so transfers stay small at scale.
  • Every run, whatever triggered it, is logged with its status, exact record count, duration and any errors.

Push to your endpoint, or pull on your schedule

Running your own data platform? CultureMonkey can push to an endpoint you host, or your system can pull whenever it suits, under the same anonymity rules.

  • Data Export API: JSON batches sent by POST or PUT to your HTTPS endpoint, with Bearer, Basic or API-key auth. Failed batches are re-sent in later runs, up to five more times.
  • Data Pull API: your system calls CultureMonkey with an API key and tenant ID, reading each dataset a page at a time, up to 10,000 rows per page.
  • Daily loads pass the time your last run started, and only rows created or changed since then come back. Upsert on each row's id.
  • Pull requests count against hourly and daily limits set for your account, and every response says how many remain.

Leadership-ready files, no warehouse needed

Often the ask is just a deck for Monday's leadership meeting, and the report already builds it. See exporting a report to PowerPoint for what's inside.

  • PowerPoint: an editable deck with the summary, top and bottom questions, a driver chart and comments. The advanced version adds a side-by-side comparison with a previous survey.
  • Executive summary as PDF or DOCX: scores, drivers, eNPS, bright spots and priorities.
  • The driver heatmap as an Excel workbook that keeps its color bands, and one PDF per team, manager or location in a single batch.
  • Who can export is set per role, and every file follows the same anonymity rules as the on-screen report.
Ways to get data out

Warehouse sync, file exports or the API

The warehouse sync is for teams that want engagement data next to their other business data. Plenty of the people asking for exports want a deck for the leadership meeting instead, and that does not need a warehouse at all.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which data warehouses and BI tools can CultureMonkey export to?

Power BI, Tableau, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse and Amazon S3. Power BI datasets are pushed automatically, Tableau reads through a live OData connection, and S3 receives CSV or JSON files that any downstream tool can pick up. Slack and Microsoft Teams can also receive scheduled summaries.

How often does the data sync?

On the schedule you set for each destination: hourly, daily or weekly. You can also run an export on demand with Run Now. Exports are incremental, so each run sends only what changed since the last one.

Does exporting break survey anonymity?

No. Every export applies the same minimum group size as CultureMonkey's reports. If a team or segment falls below the minimum number of respondents, its individual-level data is suppressed before it leaves CultureMonkey, and that holds for scheduled, on-demand and API-triggered exports alike.

How do we turn on data warehouse exports?

Ask your Success Manager to enable Data Warehousing for your account. Once it is on, an account admin creates a connection from Integrations, under the Data Exports tab, where you can also trigger a sync, review connection logs and see how many export integrations are active.

What data is included in an export?

Survey responses, completion rates and question-level scores; participation across teams and departments; eNPS trends over time; open-text responses and structured feedback; and the actions managers log against survey results. All of it is subject to your anonymity threshold.

Can we see what has been exported and when?

Yes. Every export, whether scheduled, on demand or API-triggered, is logged with its status, the exact record count, how long it took and any errors. Your data, IT or compliance team can see exactly what left CultureMonkey and when.

Can we push or pull the data into our own systems?

Yes, both. The Data Export API sends JSON batches to an endpoint you host, by POST or PUT, on a schedule or on demand, and re-sends failed batches in later runs. The Data Pull API lets your system fetch the same ten datasets on its own schedule, a page at a time, with daily incremental loads and per-account request limits. Both apply the same anonymity rules as the dashboard, and both are set up with your CultureMonkey team.

We just need a deck for leadership. Do we need the warehouse?

No. A finished survey report exports to an editable PowerPoint, a PDF, an executive summary in PDF or DOCX, or an Excel copy of the driver heatmap. These are switched on per account and per role by an account admin, and each one follows the same anonymity rules as the report on screen.
